Kate Brine-Photographer

My story started in the arts at a young age. It was only natural to pursue a fine arts degree. Then, life happened and after receiving my associates degree, I dropped out and became a dental assistant for 22 years. My life motto has always been, "laughter is the best medicine." So, it was ironic that I ended up in the orthodontic field helping people to feel confident with their smiles.

During the height of the covid pandemic, the dental field was stressful and not to mention that I had a misread MRI on my dominant right hand that resulted in 3 surgeries and loss of career. It was overwhelming at the time, but without all of this I never would have returned to college to complete my Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in photography, thus fulfilling my life long dream of pursuing photography and returning to the arts.

I loved being in school as an adult. It was an amazing time of learning and meeting talented people who inspired me. I am a person who believes in the power of positivity, never giving up, and that hard work pays off.

In my early years of art, I loved mixed media. My abstract still life photography has allowed me to utilize this medium through the lens of my camera instead of on canvas. I have always loved architecture and trips to the city, but also am passionate about nature and being outdoors. Photography allows me to fully take in moments and beauty through my camera and share it with others. I love this connection.

As a photographer, I love to chase light and color with my digital mirrorless camera, producing high quality images with the latest photo editing software. I am motivated by my love of art and photography to capture images in a creative way, while at the same time looking colors and patterns that others might not see.
